Funeral Services for Tom Cowboy, 92, of Crownpoint, New Mexico will be held on Tuesday-June 7, 2005-10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Parish in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Pastor Carlos Baki and Rev. Jimmie Etcitty will officiate. Burial will follow at the Crownpoint Cemetery.
Mr. Cowboy was born on April 15, 1913 in the Crownpoint Area for the Better Water People and for the Folded ARms People Clans and died on June 3, 2005 in Crownpoint, New Mexico. He will be remembered for honoring his country by serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then went on to work for the railroad, Ft. Wingate Ordinance Depot and retiring from the Navajo Tribal Water Development Department.
He is survived by his Daughters: Ann Jeff of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Etta Billy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kate Martin of St. Michaels, Arizona, Irene Hoycott, Denver, Colorado, Sadie Ivie of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dorothea Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sons: Tommy Cowboy of Crownpoint, New Mexico, and Leo Cowboy of Ethete, Wyoming; Sisters Esther Maguelito of Crownpoint, New Mexico and Grace Eskeet of Churchrock, New Mexico; Brothers: Harry Burnside of Crownpoint, New Mexico and Tom Shorty of Crownpoint, New Mexico. 34 Grandchildren, 51 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Nora Martin Cowboy, Daughters: Alice Cowboy and Ella Cowboy, Son: Nelson Cowboy and Leonard Cowboy; Father: Cowboy Vicenti and Mother: Bah Shorty; Brothers: Herbert Cowboy and Howard Cowboy; Sisters: Helen Shorty, Dorothy Benally and Elsie Cambridge, Great Grandchild, Torri Lynda Morgan, Grandchildren, Erick Lynn Billy and Shannon Eugene Jeff.
Pallbearers will be: The Honor Guard of Tohatchi Veterans
Compassion Mortuary of Grants, is in charge of arrangements.
