Thomas Warren Simpson, born February 5th, 1934 in Cave City, Arkansas. Tom passed away
peacefully, in presence of family, January 15, 2023 in Grants, NM at the Cibola General
Hospital. He was 88 years old, 21 days short of his 89th birthday.
Tom was raised in the Grants area, attended Grants High School and graduated in 1952. He
helped his family either by small part-time jobs around the area or by driving a truck with his
father. After graduating, Tom started working in the Uranium industry for Anaconda Mill. He was
drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served until 1958. He was stationed in El Paso, TX at
Ft. Bliss Army Base. After being discharged from the U.S. Army in 1958, he returned to Grants
and married Jeanell Julian on July 11, 1959. He returned to Ananconda and continued to work
for the Uranium industry through several name or corporation changes for over 43 years.
Tom loved to ride horses and rope whenever possible. He was passionate about practicing and
travelling to local rodeos and jackpots. He passed that passion on to anyone that would want to
bring up the subject of roping. As he grew older, his new passion became travelling to junior
rodeos to watch his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanell, two sons, Tommy Dwaine Simpson (Pamela)
and Darin B. Simpson (Joley). Two brothers Pat Simpson (Joann) and Bob Simpson. Three
grandchildren, Bo Thomas Simpson (Kayla), Randi Blair Trantham (Tulley) and Chali Ann
Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Appie Alina and Hunter Horn Simpson,
brother Jack Claude Simpson and sister Elizabeth Ann Draves .
His funeral will be conducted at First Baptist Church in Grants, NM. Visitation will begin at 9:00
am, funeral will begin at 10:00 am with the burial at Bluewater Cemetery. Reception to follow.
