Sue Saunders

Sue Ann McDaniel Saunders passed from this life and into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, December

18, 2022. She was born on March 14, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to Le Roy and Lula May McDaniel.

Sue married her husband of 49 years, Jimmie Saunders in 1955. Together they raised their children,

Craig and Denise. Sue worked as a beautician for a period of time, but most enjoyed being a

homemaker. Sue liked to create beauty around her. She enjoyed growing flowers, embroidery and

ceramics, but most of all, she loved painting. Sue was an avid BINGO player in her later years,

accumulating many trinkets of victory. There was always a seat at Sue’s table to eat or just visit.

Sue is survived by her sister: Norma Grace Merritt, children: Craig (Tammy) Saunders, daughter Denise

Metzger, grandchildren: Deidre (Victor) Patel, Todd (Chelci) Metzger, and Justin Saunders, 4 great-

grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue is preceded in death by: her husband Jimmie R. Saunders, her parents Le Roy and Lula May

McDaniel, her brother Roy G. McDaniel, sister Nita B. McDaniel McMillan, and grandson Aaron

Saunders.



Services will be held January 6 th , 2022 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of Avila

Catholic Church and interment following at Grants Memorial Cemetery,

Grants, NM.
