A Memorial Service for Shirley Lee Taylor 78, of San Rafael, New Mexico will be held on July 4, 2016 at the residence in San Rafael, New Mexico.
Shirley was born on April 7, 1937 in Altamont, Kansas and she passed away on September 18, 2015 in San Rafael, New Mexico.
She married Darrell Dean Taylor on July 13, 1959. After meeting Dean in Norton, Kansas they moved to Nebraska with the oil drilling rigs and from there they moved on to Buena Vista, Colorado to join the mining industry, In 1959 they moved to Grants, New Mexico. Dean worked at Homestake Mining Company. They made their home in San Rafael where they raised 6 children and tow grandchildren and resided there until their deaths.
Shirley was a homemaker and a mother. She loved tow things besides her children, working as a waitress for many years in various restaurants and Bingo. She loved meeting travelers and the towns people that visited the restaurants where she worked. Wanting to become a hairdresser, she went to beauty school in Gallup and worked in a Milan Beauty Shop. Later she returned to her love of being a waitress. Shirley was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed working at the voter's poll.
She is survived by her Daughters: Deborah Scott of Norton, Kansas, Linda M. Clark and husband Roger of Emporia, Kansas and Serina Lake of Goodland, Kansas; Sons: Ronald Taylor of San Rafael, New Mexico and Robert Taylor of Belgrade, Montana; 11 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Area Grandchildren are Donald Dean, Jr., Sandra and Chase Taylor, out of area grandchildren are Riki, Melvin, Courtney, Tanner, Whitney, Taylor, Justin and Austin.
She is preceded in death by her Husband: Dean Taylor; Son: Donald Dean Taylor, Sr.; Parents: Robert Green and Ella Harrington Luellen; sisters: Jenneitta, Geraldine, Roberta.
