Funeral Services for Samuel Jesse Smith, Sr. 89, of Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico will be held on Monday-April 21, 2014-10:00 AM at Santa Maria Catholic Church, McCartys, New Mexico. Burial will follow with full Military Honors at the Mount of Peace Cemetery in McCartys, New Mexico.
Visitation will be held on Monday-April 21, 2014 from 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM at the Santa Maria Catholic Church in McCartys, New Mexico.
Samuel was born on December 25, 1924 in Ganado, Arizona and he passed away on April 14, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a Navajo Code Talker with the Marine Corps in World War II.
He is survived by his children: Robert Garcia of Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico, Samuel Smith, Jr. of Taos, New Mexico, Michael Smith of Window Rock, Arizona, Arlene Wise of Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico, Joycelyn Thompson of Gallup, New Mexico, Janice Pitcher of Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico, Loretta Smith of Phoenix, Arizona and Maria Joe of Lupton, Arizona; Sister: Mary Alice Keedah of Indian Wells, Arizona. Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Rena Smith; Parents: Henry Smith and Christine Anderson Kee; Daughter: Faith Smith; Brothers: David Wayne, Jackie Smith, Sr. and Oscar Smith; Sister: Catherine Smith.
