November 24, 1952- August 30, 2023



Ruth Olguin, 70, daughter of the late Frutoso and Adonelia Vigil and loving wife of late husband James Olguin Sr., passed away on August 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Rodriguez, brother Frutoso Vigil Jr. and youngest daughter, Valerie Olguin. She is survived by sister Carol (Steven) Gallegos, daughters, Pearl Olguin and Audrey Olguin (Mario Garcia) and son James Olguin Jr. ( Brandi Vigil) grandchildren, Jeremy Silva, Izabella and Andrew Murillo, Angelina, Selina, Liliana, James III, Gabriella, Jude, Josiah Olguin, great granddaughter, Aubreyana Otero and many nieces and nephews that were like children to her. Ruth Olguin was born in Gilman, Colorado to Frutoso and Adonelia Vigil on November 24, 1952. She grew up there and met the love of her life, James Olguin,and married at the young age of 16. She proceeded to earn her GED and later her associate degree from NMSU. Her contagious smile and beautiful green eyes would light up any room she was in. Ruth was a very happy and social spirit, one that attracted people of all ages to her. People would enjoy sharing their life with her and would reach out to her for advice or the unconditional love and guidance she'd always provide. She listened with an open heart; she was Mama Ruthie for many young adults. Ruth's heart was forgiving and nurturing. Ruth devoted her time to prayer and taught her loved ones that a relationship with God was most important in life. She was a catechism teacher and school bus driver. Ruth was fun. She loved to dance and play with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Her loving and caring personality has left an everlasting mark on all those who knew her.



Services to be held at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 213 Smith Street, Grants, NM 87020 on September 15, 2023, Rosary @ 930 a.m.

Mass @10:00 a.m.

Celebration of life reception immediately following services at Knight of Colombus Hall, 1601 Roosevelt Ave., Grants NM, 87020

Burial to be held at a later date
