A private funeral service for Rita Mae "Tootsie" White, 44, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Saturday for the family only. At Mrs. White's request, and she appreciates the community's prayers and best wishes for them.
Mrs white was born in Stockton, California on July 30, 1960 and passed away following a single vehicle rollover on Forest Road 180 near Bluewater on July 24, 2005.
She has lived in Grants since October 1992 as a homemaker and volunteer. Prior to moving to Grants, Mrs. White, a Navajo Christian who was affectionately known as Tootsie, had lived in the Ganado, Arizona, area where she attended school nd started her family.
Mrs White enjoyed traveling, caring for animals and reading Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House on the Prairie" stories.
She is survived by her husband: James white, Sr. of Grants, New Mexico; her daughters: Sandra Jim and Melody White both of Grants, New Mexico; sons Leroy Jim, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and James White, Jr. of Grants, New Mexico; Brothers: Richard Quintana of Burnside, Arizona, Angelito Quintana of Gallup, New Mexico, Freddie Quintana of Toyei, Arizona, Chester Johnson of Gallup, New Mexico and Donald Johnson of Tohlakai, New Mexico; Sister: Carmalita Yazzie of Steamboat, Arizona; Father: John Yazzie of Tuba City, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Elva Hildreth Johnson.
