Placido Chavez

Funeral services for Placido Louis Chavez will be conducted from the Saint Theresa Church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, with the Father Edwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Grants Memorial Park Cemetery.



A rosary will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.







Placido died December 16, 2008 at the age of 85 following a brief illness. Placido was born in Magdalena to Nasario and Louisa (Baca) Chavez. Placido attended Albuquerque high school. He moved to Grants at the age of 21 and later married Flora Agnes Bibo. They were married 48 years until Flora's untimely passing from a heart condition.







His hobbies included spending time with his great-grandchildren, fishing, walking, carpentry, dancing, and crunchy snacks. Placido had a love of life and wonderful sense of humor.







Survivors include his loving children, Carrie and Richard Nelson, Dallas; Harold and Debbie Chavez, Grants; Louis and Denise of Trona, California . Grandchildren are Christian Nelson, Jackie Ortiz, Desmond Chavez, Jennifer Brown, and Jeremy Chavez. Great-grandchildren are Myles, Paige, Sabrina, Jasmine and Andrew. He is also survived by his niece Jean Bibo and sister in law Irene Arrossa. Sisters are Christina Gomez, Diamond Bar, California and Martha Romero of Palm Desert, California."



He is preceded in death by his wife: Flora Bibo Chavez; Parents: Nasario Chavez and Louisa Baca Chavez; Brother: Jimmy Chavez; sisters: Francis Han and Clara Baca.



Pallbearers will be: Jacque Arrossa, Pierre Arrossa, Ivan Arrossa, Daryl Bibo, Desmond Chavez, Jeremy Chavez.



Honorary Pallbearer: Christian Nelson.
