Funeral Services for Mildred Marie Sanders 95, of Grants, New Mexico will be held Friday-May 9, 2014-10:00 AM at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held Thursday-May 8, 2014 form 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Compassion Mortuary.
Mildred was born on September 18, 1918 in Huntington, Ohio to Floyd and Leora Sanders and she passed away on May 2, 2014 in Grants, New Mexico. She was the first of 8 children. Mildred attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she graduated with a Master's Degree in Arts and Science with a focus on Elementary Education. She also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics, also from the University of New Mexico. Mildred had a love of reading, education, gardening, and most of all her pets. She taught in the Grants Cibola County Schools, but retired as the librarian of the Grants High School. She touched many lives, and passed her love for learning to many students through her years in the school system.
She is survived by her children: Evelyn McAdoo and husband of Fort Worth, Texas, Marilynn Looney of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Carolyn Sage and husband of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dorothy M. McAdoo and husband of Andrews, Texas; son: David Crawford and wife Meme Crawford of Ohio; Brother: Neal Sanders and wife Jackie of Detroit, Michigan; Sisters: Miriam of Florida, and Neva of Michigan, Carol of California and numerous Grand and Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Parents: Floyd E. Sanders and Leora Higley Sanders; sisters: Lola Tryteen, Lucretia Leora and Leora and Husband Marvin Tasso.
Pallbearers will be: Jessie Hite, Nathan Hite, Raymond Nanco, Kerry Worthen, Ryan Blechner, Alan Roane.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Christian Roane, Mackenzie Roane, Michael Looney, Tiffany Looney, Danielle Gregory, Kerri Nanco, Sheyenne Nanco, Tiffany Thiessen and Natasha Hite.
