A memorial will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at the San Mateo Baptist Mission in San Mateo, NM at 11am. Donations may be given to the San Mateo Baptist Mission.
On Monday, October 22, 2018, Michael D. Embrey, loved father, brother and friend, passed away at age 64.
Michael was born in Mountain Air, NM to Ladd and Louise Embrey. The family moved to Grants, NM in 1955, where Michael resided for the next 63 years. He graduated from Grants High School in 1972 and attended NMSU in Las Cruces, NM where he studied Criminal Justice. He attended nursing school in Gallup, NM.
Michael had immense compassion for his family, friends and strangers alike. He gave freely to anyone in need. Michael had a heart of gold. He was a skilled carpenter, plumber and general handyman. He built lasting friendships with those he worked for and was greatly respected for his work ethic. He loved the national forests surrounding Grants and was an avid hiker and cross-country skier. He had a deep respect for the land and an even greater love for animals. Michael's proudest joy was his daughter, Catharine. His legacy of appreciation of beauty and his dedication to people and animals will continue through her. He was an active member of the San Mateo Baptist Mission. He showed his devotion to God through his commitment to his church and in everyday life.
He is survived by his daughter, Catharine Embrey of Cibola County, brother Robert Embrey of Orange Park, FL, sister Deborah and brother-in-law David Donald of Houston, TX, sister Terri and brother-in-law Tom Carnessale of San Diego, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Ladd Embrey, mother Louise Embrey, and sister Barbara Wickliffe.
