Services for Matthew Martin,Sr., 84 of Crownpoint, New Mexico will be held on Saturday-June 27, 2009-10:00 AM a the Gospel Light House Assembly of God Church in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Pastor Carlos Bakai will officiate. Burial will follow at the Crownpoint Community Cemetery.
Martin was born on May 3, 1925 in the Becenti, New Mexico,and he passed away on June 22, 2009 in Crownpoint, New Mexico. He was a Navajo Code Talker with the US Marines during World War II.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Etsitty Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico; Children: Matthew Martin, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia, Jasper Martin of Phoenix, Arizona, LaMar Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Patrick Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Pearlinda Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Bernadette Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Merlinda Martin of Becenti, New Mexico, Pearl Nez of Standing Rock, New Mexico, Patricia Begay of Becenti, New Mexico, Lucinda Rosenbaure of Deming, New Mexico, Sharlinda Martin of Standing Rock, New Mexico and Brenda Martin of Portland, Oregon; Brothers: Paul Martin of Pinedale, New Mexico, Leo Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico and Billie Martin of Crownpoint, New Mexico; Sisters: Bernice Etcitty of Standing Rock, New Mexico and Alice Platero of Crownpoint, New Mexico; 28 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Edgar Martin and Christine Tso Martin; Sons: Eugene Martin, Delbert Martin and Mar Martin; Brothers: Willie Martin and Tom Martin; Sister: Mary Biggs.
Pallbearers will be: Lamar Martin, Kee Benally, Alfred H. Begay, Jr., Zachary Largo, Raymond Enrico, and Quinn Etcitty.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Eugene Rosenbaure, Lawrence Benally, Levon Rosenbaure, Nathan Begay, Jasper Martin, John Antone, Max Largo, and Sheldon H. Begay.
