Mary Lopez

Mary Lopez was born on June 27, 1931, in Espanola NM., to Octaviano and Susie Valdez. She was raised by Roman and Uba Aragon. She passed away on July 14, 2024, peacefully at home with her family by her side. Mary married Alfonso Lopez on October 11, 1952, in Espanola, NM. They moved to Grants and started their family. After they raised their children, Mary went to work. Mary worked for the Cibola County Schools as a substitute teacher. All the students loved Mrs. Lopez. Mary also worked for the Cibola County Election Poll, where she made many, many friends.

Mary is survived by her children Ruby and husband Ernest Padilla, Gloria and husband Larry Chavez, Alfonso Jr. (Boy) and wife LouAnn Lopez, Michael Lopez Sr, and Diana and husband Eduardo Gonzales. Sisters Rita Valdez, Lori and husband Bernie Velasquez. Brother Toby and wife Adeline Valdez. Brother in Laws Frank Montano Sr and Bert Griego, Pablo and wife Marie Lopez, Sister in laws Pola and husband Joe Gallegos, Mary and husband Mike Ortiz, Viola Lopez and Merlinda Lopez.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Octaviano and Susie Valdez. Roman and Uba Aragon. Her beloved husband Alfonso Lopez Sr., Son David Lopez. Sisters Toni Griego, Sinfie Trujillo and Lorraine Montano. Brother Jerry Valdez. Grandsons Sammy Lopez and Pablito Valdez. Granddaughter Andrea Gonzales-Wilhem. Father-in-law Herman Lopez Sr. and Mother-in-lawCelsa Vigil-Lopez. Brothers in Law Herman Lopez Jr., Cirilo Lopez and Mike Roybal. Sister-in-Law Jane Roybal.

Mary has 16 Grandchildren 31, Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. Mary also had many Godchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at St. Theresa of Avila Church in Grants, N.M.. Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. Mass will be at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Grants Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be Cynthia Sanchez, Maelene Chavez, Janelle Tena, Melissa Lopez, LouAnn Chavez and Alissa Lopez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernest Padilla Jr., Marvin Padilla, Julian Padilla, Alfonso Lopez III (fonch), Antonio Lopez, Daniel Lopez, Michael Lopez Jr. and Joseph Lopez. Mt Taylor Funerals and Cremations is assisting with Mary's arrangements.
