Marlee Garza, a longtime resident of Grants, passed away Nov. 5, 2008 after a long and valiant battle against cancer. She was born on March 20, 1941 in Lancaster, PA.
Marlee brightened the lives of those who were fortunate enough to be her friends with a singularly unique view of the world and her surroundings. Intelligent, witty and fun-loving, her compassion for others guided her through life's many journeys. She touched the hearts and lives of countless people across the country with an expansive network of friends and family from all walks of life. Marlee's view of the world was driven by her spiritual beliefs and ultimately guided her to Grants where the beauty of the mountains and her love for the Native American culture brought her a wonderful sense of peace. Here she made many new friends and was able to enjoy her love of the outdoors, jewelry making, arts and crafts and reading.
Marlee's professional path included working as an art dealer, probation officer, sales person and most recently serving as a case manager at both Western NM Correctional Facility and New Mexico Women's Correctional Facility.
