Funeral services for Martin M. Martinez, 96, of Haystack, New Mexico will be held on Friday-November 3, 2006-10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints-Grants, New Mexico. Bishop John Hazelwood will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3221.
Viewing will be held on Thursday-November 2, 2006-10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Compassion Mortuary.
Mr. Martinez was born on September 19, 1910 in Pinedale, New Mexico and passed away on October 30, 2006 in Crownpoint, New Mexico. He was a Veteran of the US Marines, Serving in World War II as a Navajo Code Talker.
He is survived by his wife: Janice Martinez of Haystack, New Mexico; Children: Joe Martinez of Thoreau, New Mexico, Viola Nez of Kirtland, New Mexico, David Martinez of Mariano Lake, New Mexico, Michael Martinez of Crowpoint, New Mexico, Lawrence Martinez of Farming ton, New Mexico, Patricia Jim of Standing Rock, New Mexico, Gomo Martinez of Lukachukai, Arizona, Verdie Bennett of Gamerco, New Mexico, Kay Martinez of Haystack, New Mexico, Aquilla Martinez of Vanderwagen, New Mexico, Glennda Rangel of Haystack, New Mexico, Victor Martinez of La Plata, New Mexico, Velma Kisto of Thoreau, New Mexico, Leland Martinez of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Relda Martinez of Haystack, New Mexico, Fitzgerald Martinez of Milan, New Mexico and Marjorie Salazar of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Brothers: Juan Martinez of San Mateo, New Mexico, Clarence Martinez of Smith Lake, New Mexico, Johnny Martinez of Casamero Lake, New Mexico; Sisters: Nora Montano of San Mateo, New Mexico, Mae Lynch of Thoreau, New Mexico and Flora Dimentriou of Prewitt, New Mexico; 64 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Patricio "Paddy" Martinez and Aahbah "Juana" Martinez; Children: June Hogue, Judy Martinez and Aronald Martinez; Brothers: Julian Martinez, Roy Martinez, Sr., Henry Martinez, Gothlo Martinez, Leo Martinez and Raymond Martinez; Sisters: Mary Platero, Ethel Cheromiah, Nina Largo and Juanita Martinez.
Pallbearers will be: Kysilka Martin Martinez, Brad Michael Begay, Todd Ernest Rangel, Lucas Lawrence Hogue, Yoaran Ashinnie Nez, Kyerin Bennett
