Martie Burns, 83, passed away on June 17, 2015 at home.
Martie was born on Feb. 24, 1932 in Plattsburg, Missouri.
She married Merle Burns in May 1950. The young couple moved from Vallejo, California to Grants, New Mexico and took a big part in the uranium industry.
Martie was in Beta Sigma Pi and recently celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. She was known around Grants as the "Cane Lady."
Martie is survived by her children Dale Burns and Brian Burns of Grants and Julie Keel of Grand Junction, Colorado: grandchildren; Tory Everheart, Todd Burns, Justin Keel, and Duncan Burns: great-grandchildren; Gage Burns, Kate Burns, Cole Burns, and Stone and Sage Everheart.
A funeral is scheduled at Compassion Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. Viewing is from 9 to 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow.
