Manuel Ortiz

Rosary and Funeral Mass for Manuel "Sonny" Ortiz, Jr. 84 of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Tuesday-April 7, 2015-9:30 AM at San Rafael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Rafael Community Cemetery. Father Mike Vigil will celebrate.



A visitation was held on Monday-March 30, 3015 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Compassion Mortuary.



Manuel was born on January 24, 1931 in Grants, New Mexico and he passed away on March 27, 2015 in Grants, New Mexico. He was a driller and served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He loved playing Pool and spending time in the Zuni Mountains. He was a very generous man. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.



He is survived by his Sons: John Ortiz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kelly Ortiz of Grants, New Mexico; Daughters: Victoria Ortiz of Chewelah, Washington; Step-daughters: Veronica Gallegos and husband Tedd of Grants, New Mexico, Sandra Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Lisa Gonzales of Grants, New Mexico; Brother: Benji Ortiz of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Grandchildren: Jason Montoya and wife Frances of Los Angeles, Ca., Vincent Baca of Chewela, Washington, Michelle Gallegos of Grants, New Mexico, Sofia Gallegos and companion Dominic Vigil of Albuquerque, and Levi Ortiz of Grants, New Mexico and 5 Great Grandchildren. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.



He is preceded in death by his wife: Ida Gonzales; Son: Gilbert Ortiz; Daughters: Merlinda Montoya and Rose Salas; Brother: Phillip Ortiz; Parents: Manuel Ortiz, Sr. and Ida Chavez; Granddaughter: Sylvia Aragon.
