Lucille “Lou” G. Mazon, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024. She was 76 years old. She
was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, life partner, sister, aunt and friend to many. A
longtime resident of Grants, NM, Lucille served her community as a public health nurse through
the State of NM for over 25 years. She was passionate about the healthcare of her patients, and
she recognized that so many were in need of more than just healthcare. They often tugged on
her heartstrings, and she never hesitated to go above and beyond to help them. With healing at
the core of her consciousness, she pursued a second career in massage therapy later in life
and was a gifted masseuse.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jose D. and Frances Vigil, sister, Laura (Vigil)
Sanchez, brother-in-law Jaime Sanchez and sister-in-law Patricia Vigil (Ron).
Lucille is survived by her life partner Orlando Romero, children Denise Mazon and Michael
Mazon (Rebecca), grandchildren Jaiden (Isaac) Stafford, Trevor Benavidez, Isaiah Mazon and
Kyleigh Mazon, one great-grandchild on the way, her brothers, Joe Vigil (Gabbie), Ron Vigil and
Dion Vigil (Trina) and twelve nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-
great nieces.
Services are scheduled for August 19, 2024 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Grants. Rosary is
at 9:30 am with mass to follow at 10:00 am and interment immediately following at Grants
Cemetery.
