Louise Maria, 78, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, in Gallup, New Mexico. She was born
on June 22, 1945, in Ramah Navajo. She attended Southwest Indian School, graduating class of
1964, in Peoria, Arizona. Louise was a sister, mother, and grandmother. She was a BIA cook,
Teacher’s Aide, Adult Educator, a KTDB Radio DJ, Cultural Teacher, a long-time church board
member of the Ramah Navajo Church of the Nazarene, Sunday school teacher, pianist, song
leader, and did outreach ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kee and Mary Maria, her grandmother Zonnie D.
Pino, her first husband Roy Charles, son-Kirk D. Charles, sisters-Bertha Chatto, Eva, Nancy, and
Carolyn Maria and brothers-Bennie Sr., Bobby Sr., and Abram Maria. She is survived by her
brother-Gilbert Maria of Ramah, N.M., sisters-Grace Maria, and Tanya Benally both of Ramah,
N.M. Her children Carlos (Kylie) Lorenzo of AZ, Ronald Lorenzo Jr. (Aaron Caddo) of N.M., and
Lojann M. Lorenzo (Joseph Austin II) of TX. Her grandchildren Madison Lorenzo, Adeola
Adeyemi, Oluwafemi Adeyemi, William Lorenzo, and Joseph Austin III.
Celebration of life will be held at the Ramah Navajo Church of the Nazarene on May 17, 2024,
at 10:00AM. All friends and family are welcome.
