Rosary and Funeral Mass for Leopoldo "Leo" Chavez, Jr. 74 of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Saturday-August 1, 2015-9:30 AM at St. Vivian's Catholic Church in Milan, New Mexico. Burial with Military Honors by the VFW Lodge 3221 will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Saturday-August 1, 2015 at St. Vivians's Catholic Church starting at 9:00 AM.
Leo was born on October 31, 1940 in Cubero, New Mexico and he passed away on July 28, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a retired from the New Mexico State Prisons as a Guard. He was a Veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his Children: John Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Donald A. Chavez of Gallup, New Mexico, Leona Ortiz and husband Toby of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tanya Lujan and husband Sonny of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Brothers: Mike Chavez of Cubero, New Mexico and Donald Chavez of Cubero, New Mexico; Sisters: Betty Ithurrria and husband Gene of Cubero, New Mexico, Lorraine Chavez and husband Lelo of Cubero, New Mexico and Evelyn DeHerrera and husband Phil of Grants, New Mexico; 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his Loving Wife: Socorro Chavez; Parents: Leopolodo Chavez, Sr. and Arcenia DeArmond Chavez; Brother: Arthur Chavez and Sister: Thelma Chavez.
Pallbearers will be: Toby Ortiz, Sonny Lujan, Dominick Ortiz, Phillip Ithurria, George Garcia, Eric Barrela, James Tucker, Patrick Olivas
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Walter Chavez, Zechary Lujan, Zayden Lujan, Lawrence Gonzales, Frankie Chavez, Duane DeHerrera, Deandre Chavez.
