Kate Woods

Services for Kate Woods, 86, of Kamiah, Idaho, will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, 510 N. First St., Grants, N.M., at 10 a.m.



The Rev. John Rhoderick will officiate.



Burial will follow the church service and will be in the Grants Memorial Park, Roosevelt Avenue, Grants, next to her beloved husband, Jeff Woods.



Kate was born on Sept. 18, 1925, to Edd and Jesse Campbell in Gassaway, Tenn.



She suffered a heart attack and passed away at her home in Kamiah on Aug. 1, 2012.



Kate graduated from Woodbury Central High School, Woodbury, Tenn.



Her first job after completing high school was at the Union Carbide Chemical Company, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The company was a production unit of the Manhattan nuclear bomb project.



She worked there until her marriage to Jeff Woods on June 26, 1946.



Later she worked for Fidelity Life Insurance Company while Jeff went to plumbing school.



Kate was a homemaker who also became a bookkeeper for her husband's business.



The couple moved to Grants, N.M., in the mid-1950s where they raised their family.



Kate and Jeff were active members of the Methodist church congregation. She participated in the Women's Group and taught Sunday school when her children were young.



The couple was also members of the Cibola Arts Council and the Garden Club in Grants.



The family enjoyed boating, fishing and camping for together for many summers.



Jeff and Kate celebrated 53 years of marriage before he passed away in 1999.



Her many paintings of the Mount Taylor area and the flowers in her garden are cherished by her children and grandchildren.



Kate is survived by her children: Patricia Tiedmann, of Artesia, N.M.; Pam Woods, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and David Woods, of Kamiah; six grand children, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.



Pallbearers will be: Jeff Brown, Steven Brown, Tyler Woods, Troy Woods, Travis DeMerritt, Tanner Ezell.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Grants.
