Funeral Services for Joe Silversmith 86, of Coolidge, New Mexico will be held Saturday-March 5,, 2011-10:00 AM at Thoreau First Baptist Church, Thoreau, New Mexico. Burial with full military Honors by the US Marines will be held on Family Land in Coolidge, New Mexico. Pastor Jerry Yonnie will officiate.
Mr. Silversmith was born on September 21, 1924 in Rehoboth, New Mexico and he passed away on February 28, 2011 in Coolidge, New Mexico. He was a Veteran of the US Marines and was one of the Original Code Talkers during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife: Ramona Becenti of the family home in Coolidge, New Mexico; Daughters: Raedean Silversmith-Yazzie, Candace Silversmith both of Coolidge, New Mexico; and 6 Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Antonio Silversmith and Yahabah Silversmith; Daughter: Karen Silversmith-Bateman; Sisters: Dorothy Pearcy, Ada Henio and Agnes Henio; Brothers: John Antonio and Andy Newman.
