Mrs. Joan Eckardt Lantzy passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at her home in Grants, New Mexico. Joan Lantzy was born April 18, 1926 in Buffalo New York, the daughter of Bert Hoddinott and Gladys Bell.
Mrs. Lantzy moved from Florida to Candy Kitchen, New Mexico in 1977 with her loving husband and best friend, Joseph Lantzy. She started a volunteer fire department with John Pitchford in Candy Kitchen. Joan was active in political affairs in the County, was on the planning and zoning commission, and was a member of the League of Women's Voters.
She was a devoted mother, survived by her children; Sandy Pederson (Chris), Fort Collins, CO., Curt Eckardt, Homestead, FL., Robin West (Greg), San Jose, CA., Stephen Eckardt (Beth), Pompano Beach, FL. and Scott Eckardt (Elizabeth), Ridgefield, CT., 9 loving grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild (Heather, Sean, Taylor, Aubree, Jay, Garret, Austin, Casey, Joseph, Isabella).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at her home, 105 Birch Court, Grants, New Mexico.
