Maxine Boardwine, 83 years old, longtime resident, and Milan Truck Wash business owner passed away peacefully at her home on October 31, 2024. She was owner of Milan Truck Wash for over 40 years and operated and built the business alongside her beloved husband, Harold Boardwine, and family.
Maxine was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 11, 1941 and was adopted by her loving parents John William and Clara Danielle Ambrose. She grew up primarily in Gallup, New Mexico and attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas. She moved to Milan with her husband Harold and two sons, William & Clyde, in 1968.
Hobbies and ‘just for fun’: she entered her needle point projects in the Bi-County Fair and received special recognitions and won numerous ribbons, including Best of Class & Best of Show. She was a patron of the Arts /Theater and attended Popejoy and the Cibola Arts Council frequently. Maxine enjoyed reading science fiction and gothic novels. She loved Barbie dolls and pets (especially cats but made a few exceptions for the dogs).
She was an avid race car and Mud Bog fan. Maxine held Board positions with the Uranium Capital Speedway for many years and especially loved the Navajo Mud Bog family who welcomed her with open arms and much kindness.
Maxine was predeceased by: her parents John and Clara Ambrose; spouse Harold Boardwine; siblings Clyde, Jeryl, and Maydene; and son Billy Hyer. She is survived by: her sister Sue Jacques-Zeman; children, Clyde (Nancy), Johnny (Melissa), Cynthia Vick (JK) and Pam White (Jimm); and grandchildren, Kelli Purington, Catharine Embrey, Brandon Rodriguez, Joaquin Rodriguez, Sonnia Cassidy, William Hyer, Lisha Hyer and Ashley Noel. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
