Janet Santistevan

A Celebration of Life Service for Janet Santistevan, 64, of Milan, N.M., will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church on Mountain Road, in Grants, N.M.



Burial of her cremains will follow.



Janet was born May 14, 1949, in Huntington, N.Y., to Randall and Anna Speirs.



She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, in Goodyear, Ariz.



Janet and her husband Paco moved to the Grants' area in 1970.



She completed her bachelor's degree in education at Highlands University, Las Vegas, N.M.



And her first teaching job at Franklin Junior High in Grants where she taught for one year. She moved on to various jobs including Grants State Bank, Ranchers Bank, and the N.M. State Highway Department before she acquired the H&R Block franchise in the late 1980s.



Janet has owned and operated the tax office since then.



She enjoyed her family, camping, skiing, motorcycle riding, and traveling the world with her husband, Michael.



Some of the places she loved to visit included Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Europe, Australia, Spain, Guatemala, Canada and most of the United States, which the couple toured on their motorcycle.



Janet is survived by her husband: Michael (Paco) Santistevan; her children: April Montoya and husband, Bojo; Monique Dodrill; Kevin Santistevan and partner, Krystal Griego; her parents: Randall and Anna Speirs; two sisters: Heather Drumm and Bonnie Dawson; one brother: Don Speirs; and six grandchildren: Alyssa, Mckayla, Bo, James, Racquel and Emera.



Janet was preceded in death by one sister: Randie Speirs.
