Memorial Services for James Roland Oldfield 81, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Saturday-February 7, 2015-10:00 AM at the Grants Church of Christ on 1st Street. Private Family Burial will be held at a later date. Pastor Matt Clark will officiate.
James was born on December 14, 1933 in Henrietta, Texas and he passed away on February 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He moved to Grants, New Mexico in the late 1940's and Graduated from Grants Union High School in 1951. James worked for Anaconda Mine and Milling for 29 years. He then went to work for Plains Electric in 1984 until retirement in 1996.
After retirement, James and his brother-in-law made their trip to Alaska. He had always dreamed of doing this. He enjoyed spending his time building, hunting, fishing, visiting with friends. His passion for his grandchildren and great grandchildren was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his Loving Wife of 56 years: Mattie Irene Oldfield; Daughters: Kerry Anne Garey of Bayfield, Colorado, Debbie Baca and husband Larry of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Linda Greider and husband Jeff of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Teri Brown and husband Jeff of Artesia, New Mexico; Brother: Pete Oldfield of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sisters: Virginia Brown of Arizona and Patsy Fletcher of Grants, New Mexico; 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren and 2 Special Cousins: Eddie Roberts of Bluewater, New Mexico and Donna Marsing of Milan, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his Parents: Clarence Oldfield and Hazel Goodner Oldfield; Brother: Barney Oldfield.
