Jack Chafin

September 11, 1925 — March 28, 2017

Jack R. Chafin "Papa Jack" of Buckeye, formerly of Grants, NM went home to the Lord on March 28th of natural causes. He was 91.



A memorial service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on May 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM.



He was born September 11, 1925, in Hatfield, West Virginia to Betty and Jim Chafin.



He served in the Navy during World War II and the Marines during the Korean War. He worked as a pipefitter for Bechtel. He and his wife were past owners of Papa Jack's restaurant in Black Hat, NM, Tse Bonito Mortuary, in Tse Bonito, NM and Mt. Taylor Mortuary (Compassion Mortuary), in Grants, NM.



Survivors include his wife, Mary Chafin of Buckeye, AZ.; one daughter, Rhonda Chafin of Shelby, OH, three stepdaughters, Theresa Schlemmer of Apache Junction, AZ, Debra Grout and Patty Prather both of Goodyear, AZ.; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Chafin and a daughter, Pam Ginter, one step-son Michael Prather and one grandson, Frank Grout.
