Our loving father Herman Jackson "Pete" left his worldly home on February 13, 2010 after a brief illness.

Pete was born on April 20, 1926 to Oakey Jennings Halsey and Mary Alice Halsey in Maben, West Virginia. He was very proud of his West Virginia home but in 1960 he made a stop in Grants. He found a new place to call home and did so for about 50 years.

Pete was an underground miner by profession and worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and the uranium mines in Grants.

He was in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 and was a member of the VFW Post 3221 in Grants.

Pete came to Grants in 1960 looking for work and found it. Shortly thereafter, he found the love of his life, Eutimia Mata. Pete and Eutimia married in 1961 and started their family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and an infant son from a previous marriage.

He leaves behind, his son Peter Halsey and wife Keri of Elko, Nevada, daughter: Karen Maxwell and husband Arnold of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Son: Michael Halsey of Beaver, West Virginia and a Daughter: Debbie Compton and husband Roger of Pineville, West Virginia; Grandchildren: Andrew Halsey, Matthew Maxwell, Amanda Halsey, Kristopher Maxwell, Alexandria Maxwell, Michael Halsey, Mariah Maxwell, Marcus Maxwell, Savannah Compton and Nathan Compton.

He was loved by all of his brothers and sisters, other family and friends in West Virginia, Eutimia's family, and lots of friends. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Andrew Halsey, Matthew Maxwell, Kristopher Maxwell, Michael Halsey, Marcus Maxwell and Nathan Compton.
