Helen Ramirez, born July 21, 1965, in Paris, France, passed away peacefully at the age of 57 in her home in Milan, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Helen is survived by her beloved only daughter, Esperanzah Ramirez; her mother, Carmen Carbajal; and her siblings: Betty Ramirez, Francisco Ramirez III, Alicia Ramirez, Emma Jimenez, Jose Jimenez, Victor Medina, Scott Bynum, Willie Nañez, and Samantha Nañez. She leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, including Sabrina Marquez, Miguel Hernandez, Anthony Nañez, Audriana Judd, Francisco Ramirez IV, Brenda Ramirez, John Martinez, Kailey Martinez, Ashley Watters, James Watters, Angelica Hassell, Cody Hassell, Carlee Medina, Estrella Wilson, James Wilson, Angelo Espinoza, Isabell Espinosa, Maritza Jimenez, Catrina Medina, Carlos Medina Jr., along with their precious children. Helen is preceded in death by her father, Francisco Ramirez II, and her brother, Carlos Medina.
A proud 1985 graduate of Grants High School, Helen was known for her humility and dedication to her work. Throughout her career, she held positions at various local businesses, including Cibola General Hospital, Weather King, Bealls in Grants and Gallup, Wells Fargo, and Burlington Coat Factory. Helen formed close and lasting friendships with her coworkers, earning their respect and trust through her strong work ethic.
Helen had a passionate spirit for community service and advocacy. She supported notable initiatives such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, family adoption, and suicide prevention. As an active member of St. Vivian’s Catholic Church in Milan, she demonstrated a giving heart and deep faith.
Her creativity shone brightly in many ways. Helen loved the outdoors, enjoying activities such as fishing, camping, and crafting. She had a keen interest in various arts and crafts, including painting and crocheting, and held a special fondness for the Green Bay Packers. A fantastic host, she enjoyed celebrating occasions with unique costumes and lively gatherings. Helen also cherished her love for animals, which included dogs, cats, birds, and even horses, capturing the hearts of those around her with the name she chose for herself, "Helen Friend of All Creatures," during a memorable trip to Medieval Times.
Helen faced the challenges of battling ovarian cancer for over 34 years with remarkable grace and strength. She approached her journey with unwavering resolve and felt a sense of victory in managing her affairs on her own terms. Her dedication to her family during this time was a testament to the selfless love she radiated throughout her life.
As we remember Helen's beautiful spirit, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her life and honoring her wishes as we lay her to rest. Helen will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
