Services for George Parker 87, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Monday-January 12, 2009-10:00 AM at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will be held on Monday-January 12, 2009-4:00 PM at the Dove Creek Community Cemetery, Dove Creek, Colorado. Pastor Garland Moore will officiate.
Mr. Parker was born on June 30, 1921 in Rexford, Kansas and passed away on January 7, 2009 in Grants, New Mexico.
His family moved from Missouri to Dove Creek, Colorado and on the way he was born in a covered wagon in Rexford, Kansas by the time they reached Dove Creek he was 3 months old.
He moved to Grants in 1958 where he hauled Uranium for Anderson Development Co. He went on to haul heavy equipment for Farris Mines where he retired in 1987. He then went on to building and repairing bicycles, and enjoyed yard sales and flea markets. Loved his family and his cat Begger.
He is survived by his children: Dixie James of Milan, New Mexico, Pete Parker and wife Sandy of New York State, Donna Baldwin of California and Geneva Carrier and husband Roger of California; 11 Grandchildren, Danita James, Kevin James, Crystal Wiggins, Jackie Jordan, David Parker, Billy Parker, Kim Davis, Buzzy Baily, Michelle Parker, Sherri Sanchez and Randy Craig; 15 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John Parker and Hattie Mae Parker; Wife: Freda Parker; 5 Brothers; Grandson: Kenny James and his beloved son in law: Loyd James.
Pallbearers will be: Kevin James, Steve Baca, Kyle James, Brent James, Ron Armstrong, Billy Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Clark Stauffer and Jerry Ferris, Buzzy Bailey.
