Garland Lewis

Funeral Services for Garland Parley Lewis 86, of Ramah, New Mexico will be held on Friday-November 18, 2011-10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ramah, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Ramah Community Cemetery.



Garland passed away peacefully at his home in Ramah, New Mexico on November 14, 2011. He was born on March 27, 1925 in Ramah to Gilbert and Melissa Lewis. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. After returning home from this service he married Betty Lurlene Waite on May 8, 1948 in St. Johns, Arizona. Their marriage was later soleminized in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 6, 1949.



Although he worked many jobs to support his family, he was primarily a journeyman carpenter. He worked on many construction projects in this area. He had a love for fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing the harmonica. He was aloving, husband, father, and grandfather.



Garland is survived by his loving wife: Lurlene Lewis, Daughters: Elleva McMahon, Cindy Montague and husband Bob; son: Larry Lewis and wife Roxana; Daughter-in-law: Dee Ann Lewis; Sisters: Dorothy Lambson and Afton Fisher; Brother:

Rankin Lewis. His pasterity includes 28 grandchildren, 38 great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.



He is preceded in death by his Parents: Gilbert and Melissa Lewis; Brothers: Cecil and Lloyd Lewis and Sister: Idelle Nicoll; Sons: Vernon and Garland Lewis.
