Floyd Vasquez, a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, was born on May 29, 1951, in Ojito, New Mexico. He peacefully passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 73, at his home in Grants, surrounded by his family.

Floyd was the son of George Vasquez and Solidea Rodriguez, originally from Ojito, New Mexico. He grew up alongside his nine siblings, with whom he shared a close bond. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: LaLa (Steve) Gallegos, Marcella (Milford) Salazar, Gito (Agnes) Vasquez, Richard (Elaine) Vasquez, Clyde (Theresa) Vasquez, Frank (Shelly) Vasquez, Brian Vasquez, Mabel (Miguel ) Garcia, and Francesca Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his beloved eldest daughter, Christina Vasquez.

Floyd is survived by his children: Carla Longoria (Robert Morris), Isidro Longoria (Jacque Longoria), Carlos Longoria, and Cruz Vasquez. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.

Floyd moved to Grants to pursue a career as an Underground Uranium Miner at Ker Mage, where he worked diligently for 15 years. He was also an accomplished carpenter, using his skills to operator for another 15 years. He was also and accomplished carpenter, using his skills to remodel his home with pride, including building additions. A creative spirit, Floyd was a talented artist with a passion for drawing and other forms of creative arts. He and his ex-wife, Carla Vasquez, also started a business together further building a legacy that would benefit his family for years to come.

Floyd's heart was as big as his legacy. He was loved by all who knew him, and his gentle spirit, sense of humor, and deep love for his family will never be forgotten.

A private family service will be held to honor Floyd's life and memory to be announced.
