Funeral Mass for Flora Chavez 102 of Cubero, New Mexico will be held on Friday-June 17, 2011-10:00 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Cubero, New Mexico the Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Cubero Community Cemetery.
A rosary will be held on Thursday-June 16, 2011-7:00 PM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church.
Flora, one of the first and last pioneer families of Cubero, New Mexico went in the arms of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 13, 2011 in Grants, New Mexico. She was born on September 27, 1908 in Cubero, New Mexico.
Flora was a loving, giving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a beautiful, elegant lady who carried herself with class and dignity every day of her life as she lived her life to the fullest. She was proud of her family who looked at her as the matriarch of the family. Her manner of living was evidence of her deep faith in the Lord. She began everyday with praise and prayers.
We love you and we will miss you always and we will carry you in our hearts everyday of our lives. We look with joyous expectation until we are once again reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven with you, our precious mother and loving sister.
She is survived by her Sons: Eugene Chavez and friend Rita of Cubero, New Mexico, Frank Chavez, Jr. and wife Pearline of Cubero, New Mexico, Adelino Chavez and wife Lorraine of Cubero, New Mexico; Daughters: Florinda Brito and husband Julian of Cubero, New Mexico, Velma Anderson and husband Sam of Laguna, New Mexico, Fellie Sarrracino of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Granddaughter she raised: Wendy Brown and husband Cecil of Grants, New Mexico and Daughter in Law: Louisa Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sister: Marian Palmas of California; 40 Grandchildren, 83 Great Grandchildren and 42 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Frank Chavez, Sr.; Parents: Nicholas Jaramillo and Jesusita Jaramillo; Son: Jose Maria Chavez; Sisters: Lita Baca, Bobbie Jaramillo; Brothers: Max Jaramillo, Nabor Jaramillo, Liberato Jaramillo and Eddie Jaramillo.
Pallbearers will be: Bruce Chavez, Frances Padilla, Joey Sarracino, Mark Hampton, Zeke Bustos and Daniel Brito.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Vincent "Bud" Chavez, Laurence Gonzales, Keith Scott, Steve Brito, Kevin Baca and Cecil Brown.
