Fernandez Chavez

Funeral Mass for Fernandez M. Chavez, 88, of San Mateo, New Mexico will be held on Tuesday-July 22, 2008-10:00 AM at the San Mateo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Mateo Community Cemetery. Military honors will be by the VFW Lodge 3221, The Very Rev. Albeto Avella will be the celebrant.



A Rosary will be held on Monday-July 21, 2008-7:00 PM at the San Mateo Catholic Church.



Mr. Chavez was born on June 14, 1920 in Cubero, New Mexico and passed away on July 18, 2008 in San Mateo, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II. He was a Rancher all of his life and a Miner.



He is survived by his wife: Emilia Chavez of San Mateo, New Mexico; Sons: Freddie Chavez of San Mateo, New Mexico, Joseph Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Chris Chavez and wife Eva of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Daughters: Gloria Vallejos and husband Robert of Grants, New Mexico, Mary Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Emilia Romero and husband Ruben of San Mateo, New Mexico, Bernadette Adams of Grants, New Mexico, Jennie Chavez and husband Ray of Cubero, New Mexico, Denise Chavez of Cubero, New Mexico Donna Chavez of Cubero, New Mexico; Brothers: Fred Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Preciliano Chavez of Flagstaff, Arizona; Sisters: Mellie Rael of Grants, New Mexico, Dora Marez of Grants, New Mexico, Kate Saavedra of Grants, New Mexico and daisy Ortiz of Grants, New Mexico; 27 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his parents: Isidro Chavez and Isabel Chavez.



Pallbearers will be: Ernie Martinez, Ray Chavez, Robert Vallejos, Louie Chavez, Ruben Padilla, Rollie Yanez.



Honorary Pallbearers: Georgie Chavez and Ruben Romero.
