Services for Elise Begay 78, of Crownpoint, New Mexico will be held on Thursday-July 7, 2011 in Crownpoint, New Mexico at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crownpoint. Burial will be held at the Crownpoint Community Cemetery.
Elise was born into the Waters Edge people and born for the Ute People on September 15, 1932 in Newcomb, New Mexico and she passed away on July 2, 2011 in Crownpoint, New Mexico.
She attended Albuquerque Indian School, following school she worked as a food serviced employee at Crownpoint elementary and Borrego Pass School. Shethen worked as a Cullinary Instructor at the Navajo Skill Center now known as Navajo Technical College. She was well known for making wedding cakes and winning various trophies in competitions for her cakes. She enjoyed time spent with family, friends, and grandchildren. Her hobbies were watching wrestling, rug weaving, seing and enjoyed going to her grandkids basketball and football games.
She is survived by her Niece: Irby M. Smith; Daughters: Alfreda Yazzie, Alberta Silago, Louann Begay; Spons: Alfred H. Begay, Jr., Aldred Begay, Raefred Begay; sisters: Mary Ann Manuelito, Jane Begay, Ena Chavez; Brother: Leo Bingman; 22 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Alfred H. Begay, Sr.; Son: Alvin Begay; Daughter: Eita May Begay; Parents: Louis and Lucy Bingman;
Brothers: Keith Bingman, Henry Bingman and Grandson: Michael Begay.
Pallbearers will be: Stacey Louis Silago, Kris Begay, Petty Officer Second Class, Ryan Yazzie, Brian Tenequer, Rynie Yazzie and Rylan Yazzie.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Alfred H. Begay, Jr., Aldred Begay, Raefred Begay and Shondo Begay.
Family will recieve relatives and Friends at St. Paul's Catholic Church Parish Hall in Crownpoint following services.
