Funeral Services for Elinor M. Arviso, 92, of Crownpoint, New Mexico will be held on Tuesday-March 27, 2007-10:00 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Crownpoint Community Cemetery. Pastor Neil Forrester will officiate.
Mrs. Arviso was born on January 15, 1915 in Dalton Pass, New Mexico and passed away on March 23, 2007 in Gallup, New Mexico. Elinor was reared by the late J.C. Morgan, Navajo Nation Chairman. She served in may local, county and state committees. She was Nahodishgish Chapter Secretary for 32 years. Other committees included the Johnson O'Malley, Eastern Agency Farm Board, Election Board, DNA Legal Services Board and the Grazing Committee.
She is survived by her children: Irene A. Ahasteen of Churchrock, New Mexcio, LaGena A. Healy of Crownpoint, New Mexico, Eunice A. Begaye of Steamboat, Arizona; Stepdaughters: June Kalleco of Standing Rock, New Mexico and Annie A. James of Standing Rock, New Mexico; Brothers: Cecil Morgan and Charles Morgan both of Crownpoint, New Mexico; 18 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Billy H. Arviso; Parents: John C. Morgan and Elizabeth Yazzie Morgan; Sons: Herman B. Arviso and Lorenzo B. Arviso; Daughters: Janice A. Rodriguez, Katrina A. Arviso and Sarah A. Johnson; Brothers: Roger Morgan, Preston Morgan; Sisters: Ella M. Bates, and Dorothy Morgan; Grandchildren: Kylas C. Healy, Jackie A. Rodriguez and Great Grandchild: Gabriella Rodriguez.
Pallbearers will be: Wendell L. Rodriguez, Wade D. Rodriguez, Sean Rodriguez,
Audain Ahasteen, Kane Healy, Heather Healy, Lynch Sandoval, Gabe Alonzo, Tom Toadicheene, Lyman Arviso.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Peterson Zah, Ed T. Begay, Amos R. Begaye, Gabriel A. Begaye, Brent Becenti, Lowery Ahasteen, Lowell Ahasteen, Mike Armijo and Shane Rodriguez.
