Funeral services for Dorothy H. Yazzie, 85, of Indian Wells, Arizona will be held on Thursday-May 18, 2006-10:00 AM at the Laguna Indian Mission Baptist Church in Budville, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Seama Village Cemetery in Seama, New Mexico.
Traditional Wake and service will be held on Wednesday-May 17, 2006-7:00 PM at the Laguna Indian Mission Baptist Church in Budville, New Mexico
Mrs. Yazzie was born on August 1, 1920 in Seama, New Mexico and passed away on May 15, 2006 at the Rainbow Center in Laguna, New Mexico. She attended St. Catherine's Catholic School in Santa Fe and graduated from Fort Wingate High School. She graduated from Indian Bible Academy in Cottonwood, Ariz., and became a missionary alongside her husband for 20 years. She was a homemaker, Her tribe was Laguna and her clans were Turkey & Little Oak.
She is survived by her husband: Lemuel Yazzie of Indian Wells, Arizona; Children: Elmer E. Yazzie of Ganado, Arizona, Linda Yonnie of Sanders, Arizona,Geri Goombi, of Casa Blanca, New Mexico, Ruth Burshia of Woodbridge, Virginia, Debbie Romero of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Walter Kismeh of Phoenix, Arizona, and Grace Dyea of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sisters: Ruth Remillard of Seama, New Mexico, Florence Henry of Seama, New Mexico and Peggy Jachnig of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 28 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Walter Joe Hardie and Annie Lockwood; Son: Lamuel Bahe Yazzie, Jr., Daughter: Marcella Ann Garcia and Twin Brothers: Simon and Wesley Hardie.
Pallbearers will be: Abram Burshia, Jerald Yonnie, Benjamin Burshia, Wesley Sinquah, Frank Romero, Jr. Lemuel Yonnie, Joseph Chaca, Addison Goombi, Lorenzo Dyea, Steve Jon Yazzie, and Matthew Yazzie.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Elmer E. Yazzie, Walter H. Kismeh, Dudley Yazzie, Ben Henry, III, Max Early, and David Remillard.
