Dorothy June (Conder) Ray passed away after a lengthy illness on November 22, 2018. A blessin on Thanksgiving Day.
Dorothy was born on April 23, 1929 in North Miami, Oklahoma to Luther and Eva Conder. She
was one of eight children and spent her childhood in Commerce, Oklahoma during the depression and WWII years. She
graduated from Commerce High School in 1947 and was married the next day to Gerald Ahniwake Ray. Together they
spent several years having their children and chasing jobs around the country, including Illinois and California before settling
in Grants, NM in 1958.
Dorothy worked several jobs in the Grants/Milan area. The Milan Post Office, Cibola Hospital, Kerr McGee Corporation, Keradmax
and Anaconda to name a few. She was an avid bowler and loved to sew and crochet. Dorothy was constantly cooking and her
home was always open to any guest who showed up at the door or ones that were brought in by one of her kids or grandkids.
She was famous for her "Dorothy Burgers".
Dorothy was mostly known as a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years,
her mother and father and six of her seven siblings.
She is survived by her children: June Baca and husband Clifford, Jerry Ray and wife MaryJane, Joseph Ray, John Patrick Ray
and wife Carolyn, and James Ray and wife Tawnya, on remaining Sister: Octa Jo Rooney and husband Windell,
Fourteen Grandchildren, Seventeen Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.
Dorothy had several family members both on the Conder side and the Ray side. She had five brothers and two sisters.
Her husband had five brothers and two sisters. Lots of in-laws, nieces and nephews that she loved and loved her.
There will be a graveside service sometime in June or July of 2019 in Miami,, Oklahoma. There her ashes will be buried
with her husband.
