Rosary and Funeral Mass for Della C. Maxey 71, of Grants, New Mexico will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Cubero, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Cubero Community Cemetery. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 28, 2011, 2:00 PM-3:00 PM at Compassion Mortuary in Grants, New Mexico. Visitation will also be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 9:30 AM-10:30 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Cubero, New Mexico.
Della was born on August 15, 1939 in Cubero, New Mexico to the home of Alejandro and Altiven Chavez and was raised with 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She passed away on February 24, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a short illness.
She was a resident of Grants, New Mexico for 29 years. She married Warren J. Maxey on February 7, 1959 in Gallup, New Mexico. She was a business owner, house wife and loving mother to her 3 children, Chico, LeeAnn and Michael. Della was a resident of Overton, Nevada for many years and returned to Grants, New Mexico in 1982.
She is survived by her loving husband Warren J. Maxey of the family home in Grants, New Mexico. Children: Frank "Chico" Maxey and wife Heather, LeeAnn Burress and husband Bruce and Michael Maxey and wife Shelly; grandchildren: Floyd "Levi" Burress, Madalene Hardy, Meagan Maxey, Warren W. Maxey, Hillary Habiger, Joshua F. Maxey, Mike Maxey, Anna R. Maxey and Hunter Maxey; Great Grandchildren: Aiden Valdo, Deandre Chavez, Reilly Burress, Alessa Maxey, and Marshell Burress; Sisters: Mary Ann Jaramillo and husband Eloy and Lousia Martinez and husband Samuel and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Alejandro and Altiven Chavez; Brothers: Ruben Chavez and Martin Chavez; Sisters: Frances Serna, Ruby "Snookie" Sena and Lorraine Gonzales; Brother in law: Ernesto Serna; Sister in law: Dulce Chavez.
