Services for Darrel Harlan Elkins, 56, of Thoreau, New Mexico will be held Saturday-July 10, 2010-11:00 AM at the Bi County Fair Grounds in Prewitt, New Mexico. Burial will be held in the Elkins Family Cemetery.
Darrel was born on January 29, 1954 in Gallup, New Mexico and he passed away on July 7, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He Graduated from Thoreau High School then served in Germany with the US Army. He worked for many years at the Dave Elkins Ranch and in the wood shop. He was a member of the BiCounty Fair. Darrel loved cattle, western music and football and the color blue.
He is survived by his wife: Tammy Elkins of Thoreau, New Mexico; Children: Cody Elkins and wife Brijitta of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dustin Elkins of Thoreau, New Mexico; Grandchildren: Peytyn Elkins and Colton Elkins of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mother: Edith Elkins of Prewitt, New Mexico; Brothers: Tommy Elkins and wife Lisa of Thoreau, New Mexico, Danny Elkins of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ronnie Elkins and wife Jana of Aztec, New Mexico and Jody Elkins and wife Donna of Prewitt, New Mexico; Sister: Rhonda Moore and husband Bobby of Prewitt, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his father: Lawrence Elkins.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Elkins, Danny Elkins, Ronnie Elkins, Jody Elkins, Joe Hoskins and Bobby Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Billy Moore, Dudley Byerly, Danny Buttons, and Larry Bottoms.
