Heaven received a special delivery on Thusday-December 16, 2010. Carl Bodley went home to meet his Lord and Savior and to be re-united with his parents. his remaining family; brothers: Martin Bodley and wife Judy, Kevin Bodley and wife Emma and sister: Lona Gearhart and husband Mike, many nieces, nephews and extended family will miss his warm smile and unique sense of humor.
Carl was born August 3,1945 in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Ohio. It was there that he began working for the U.S. Postal Service. Always a trendsetter he was one of the first postal workers to start wearing shorts when they became a uniform option in the 70's. Carl moved to Grants and continued to work for the Post Office until his retirement in 2000.
He was a huge Star Trek Fan, an avid Civil War Buff and had a fascination for the Renaissance Period. He was involved in re-enactment organizations for the Civil War and the Renaissance and made his own historically correct wardrobe for both. He was in the process of remodeling his house in San Rafael and turning it into his own private castle.
Carl had a easy going personality and probably touched more lives than his family could ever know. To them we say cherish the memories and know that in the end Carl was happy with his life, at peace with this world and held in the loving hands of his heavenly father.
A memorial service will be held on Monday-December 20, 2010-5:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Grants, 224 Mountian Road.
Private family burial will be held at a later date at the Grants Memorial Park by the family.
