Anselmo Chavez

Rosary and Funeral Mass for Anselmo "Semo" Chavez 75, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Thursday-April 30, 2015-9:30 AM at the San Rafael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Rafael Community Cemetery. Father Mike Vigil will officiate.



Semo as he was known to all was born to Aurelia and Espiridion Chavez on April 1, 1940 in San Rafael, New Mexico and he passed away on April 26, 2015 in Grants, New Mexico. He was one of 8 children.



He worked for the mining industry for 27 years as an underground mner and transferred to Trona, California with Kerr McGee when the mines closed in Cibola County.



Semo was a kind and giving man who lived life simply.



He is survived by his son: Anselmo "Sammy" Chavez and his step Children: Wade Nowlin, Patrick Nowlin and Charlie Nowlin; Granddaughter: Sasha Avant and Grandsons: Vincent and Joelle Chavez: Sisters: Susie Gallegos and husband Tony, Angelina Silva and Beneranda Frondarina and husband Bennie; Brother: Edward Chavez and many nieces and nephews.



He is preceded in death by his parents: Espiridion Chavez, Aurelia Torrez Chavez; Grandson: Mitchel Chavez; Brothers: Profacio "Profie" Chavez and Leroy Chavez; Sister: Pauline Guzman.



Pallbearers will be: Gilbert Silva, Gabe Gallegos, Wade Nowlin, Julian Montoya, Sammy Chavez and Ralph Apodaca.



Honorary Pallbearers will be: Antonio "Tony"Gallegos, Edward Chavez, Jr., Pete Salazar, Abe Maes, Julian Torrez, Ramon Torrez and Richard Chavez.
